Pennsylvania – Carnegie Mellon University and the National Security Agency are sponsoring an online hacking competition with the hopes of sparking interest in computer security careers. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the competition, “Toaster Wars,” which will run from April 26 to May 6, is free and open to all students in the U.S. in grades 6 through 12.
NSA representative Vanee Vines is quoted by the AP as saying in an emailed statement of the country’s need for cyber security professionals, “America increasingly needs professionals with highly technical cyber skills to help keep the country safe today — and to help the country meet future challenges and adapt with greater agility.”
