Manhattan, New York (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — Another road accident injured nine people in Manhattan when a Ford Explorer lost control while it was being parked during the heavy evening rush hour. As reported by police, the driver of the vehicle, Estebannie Sanchez, 23, plowed the vehicle over 4 pedestrians and also struck five people at the Seventh Ave. and W. 35th St. before escaping from the accident scene.
According to Eliette Alvarez who lifted the SUV, when the Ford Explorer finally stopped, three women along with a small boy were found under the vehicle. While the little boy suffered uncritical injuries, the two women were seriously injured and were immediately taken to the nearby Bellevue Hospital for medical treatment.
As reported by Justine Cairns, the tourist who ignored the accident and refused to provide any medical attention to the victims, there was a Jeep and it wedged his leg, hitting it against one of the glass doors of a shop. He thought of screaming at the driver of the Jeep but did not take any action.
Sanchez returned a few minutes later to the accident scene. For about 25 minutes, he was not seen around the scene of accident and therefore he was allegedly charged because of leaving the accident scene. He was also penalized with a summon declaring that he was driving the vehicle without having a license. Also, the owner of the vehicle, Jimmy Acosta, was charged due to his negligence as he allowed the driving of his friend even when he knew that Sanchez did not have a license.
Another two accidents occurred in the city. In the first accident, a 60-year old man ran his SUV into 6 people on the road, who were sitting on a bench on the East Side. In the other accident, a 55-year old woman was left in a critical condition when a cab driver hit her in Harlem.
