New York Injury News — Long Island story — A motorcyclist became involved in an accident when the vehicle he was driving collided with a truck in Half Hollow Hills in close proximity of the Long Island Expressway. The North Babylon motorcyclist was killed and local police reported that they closed the ramp of the highway for several hours.
The victim, Christopher Regula, 22, was riding his motorcycle on Route 231 at approximately 7:04 a.m. when the accident took place and his Honda motorcycle collided with a Bering truck. According to police, the dump truck made a left turn onto the southbound route from the Expressway Drive North.
Regula was immediately taken to the nearby Good Samaritan Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead, as reported by the police. The driver of the truck, Humberto Calua, 22, did not receive any injuries due to the accident. The driver was charged as he was operating the vehicle without a license. The owner of the truck was found to be the Clear Concrete Corporation of Selden but even after a message was left for the company declaring the news of the accident, there was no reply from the company until Friday afternoon.
Local police are still investigating the issue and asking people to provide any information related to the accident. Police have asked the public to call 631-854-8252 to provide details about the collision. No reports against the dump truck driver have been filed as there are not adequate evidence of negligence on the part of the truck driver.
