Middlesex County, New Jersey (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — An unknown motorist lost his life when his vehicle hit the cruiser of a State Police Trooper that had been parked on the Parkway of Garden State in Sayreville late at night on Saturday, according to authorities. The spokesperson for the State Police, Sgt. Julian Castellanos, said that the trooper sustained injuries which are not life-threatening.
The accident took place at approximately 11:15 pm off the highway that has been reserved for police cruisers near mile 126. The spokesperson was not sure whether the place known as the ‘cut’ is situated on the southbound or northbound side or in the middle of the two. The name of the troopers and that of the motorist have not been made available. There are many lane closures in the North Bound area and this may be a contributing factor for the accident. Since the construction of the bridge has begun, there have been 4 serious accidents in the location.
One of the eyewitnesses of the accident said that he had been driving behind the car at a distance of about 1/8th mile when the incident took place. He had been going at a speed of 65 mph and the car involved in the accident and one more car passed him going at about 80-85 mph. A cop rushed into a cut out with the lights on and suddenly stopped. It is possible that the person who was driving the vehicle braked abruptly and lost control
