New York City, New York (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — According to Nassau police, a woman from Port Washington was charged with DWI and manslaughter for the death of a teen from Rhode Island who was riding as a passenger while she drove in oncoming traffic yesterday morning.
The driver of the vehicle was Ansaf G. Imbrahim, 21, who was behind the wheel of a 2007 Honda Civic in the north side of Post Washington Boulevard. This lead to a direct collision between a 2005 Toyota Corolla and Imbragim’s Honda Civic while the former was traveling in the southwards direction. With the impact of collision, the Toyota collided with another vehicle that was traveling in southbound direction, a 2006 Honda Accord, and as a result, both cars lost their balance and went into northbound lane.
Ansaf G. Imbrahim was traveling along with Desiree Mesolella, 19, from Lincoln, R.I, and is believed to be a student from Adelphi University. Both were taken to the North Shore University Hospital where Desiree Mesolella was declared dead on arrival at 10:54 AM.
According to police, the drivers of the cars which were hit by Ansaf G. Imbrahim were Stephen Klemens, 44, and Claudia Hidalgo, 30. Both hailed from Port Washington and were taken to St. Francis Hospital and Winthrop-University Hospital, Mineola. Both were free from any life threatening injuries.
Ansaf G. Imbrahim was also safe from any life threatening injury however once at the hospital, she refused to take a blood alcohol test. Imbrahim was arrested and was charged with second degree manslaughter along with vehicular manslaughter of the second degree and reckless driving while under the influence.
