Harlem, New York (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A Harlem teen who was going to the church after returning from party was shot by gunfire horseplay as reported by the local police. The 15-year old, Nathan Allsbrooks, faced a gunshot to his chest at around 2:30 in the morning on 127th St. and Seventh Ave., which is only three blocks away from Allsbrooks’ home.
According to his grandmother, Bertha Allsbrooks, 67, Nathan was a loving, sweet, compassionate and kind person. Bertha also reported that she talked with her grandson only a few hours before he died. In the conversation, he told Bertha that he would not miss church service that Sunday.
While investigating the crime scene, police found shell casings shot from a 9-mm handgun. According to the police, Allsbrooks was standing in the street when the bullet struck him as someone was horsing around and not paying attention while handling a gun. To date, no suspects have been found and police have not arrested any suspects.
Allsbrooks aspired to be a NBA star and was a strong athlete and student at his school. Also, as reported by Allsbrooks’ relatives, he worked at the scrap metal business run by his grandfather in order to make money during the summer time.
Allsbrooks’ father reported with tears in his eyes that his son never bothered anyone and he is still in shock that the teen has been killed. Allsbrooks has become the latest victim of gun shooting violence as the ninth murder that the New York city has faced in this year. In the last month itself, six teenagers were killed or injured during a wild melee.
The accident has not only left Nathan’s family with shock and sorrow, they are begging for any information leading to the arrest of the culprit of their son’s death.
