Central Islip teen driver dies in fatal motor vehicle collision injuring several. News by New York personal injury Law Firm
New York, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com)–A fatal car crash occurred at the intersection of Suffolk Avenue and Church Street in Central Islip around 11:10 p.m. on Friday April 3, 2009. As reported by Newsday, the fatal automobile accident involved a 17 year old boy, a taxi cab driver, and another motor vehicle. Christopher Jackson, 33, of Central Islip, was driving a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria taxi cab westbound on Suffolk Avenue. Kevin Hernandez-Pinto, a 17 year-old Central Islip young man, was driving a 1994 Toyota Camry South on Church Street when he crashed into the taxi.
According to Long Island police officers a third motor vehicle was also involved in the collision. The 2007 Mazda heading West on Suffolk driven by 46 year old Marcia Ledwidge of Central Islip, was also struck in the car crash. Suffolk County emergency medical crews transported Hernandez-Pinto and his three injured passengers to Southside Hospital. Hernandez-pinto was pronounced dead at the hospital by doctors in the emergency department and the three injured passengers riding in the 17 year-olds vehicle were released with non-life threatening injuries.
Jackson and his passenger were also transported to Southside Hospital where they were both treated for neck and back injuries. Ledwidge was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital by emergency medical personnel and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police are asking anyone with any information to please call the third squad at 631-854-8352. All three of the motor vehicles involved in this accident were impounded for safety checks. Police remain investigating the automobile accident.
