Ionic Salt Lamps recalled after burn injuries

Illinois based Ionic Salt Lamp distributors recall lights after product injures several.

Chicago, IL(JusticeNewsFlash.com)–LTD Commodities LLC, ABC Distributing, and Lakeside Collection have participated in a voluntary recall of approximately 25,800 units of Ionic Salt Lamps. U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) www.cpsc.gov federal regulators announced the recall on July 1, 2009 after discovering the products posed a fire hazard. The recalled lamps can overheat, burn through the vinyl cord, and cause the lamp to burst. The three distributors recalling the lamps are located in Bannockburn, Illinois.

The recalled lamps have a UL file number of “E216832” on its black cord and a UL file number of “E214389” on its plug. The lamps were sold in a variety of colors, ranging from light red to dark red. A 10 watt bulb is sold with the product. The base of the lamp is made out of wood. The lamps are equipped with an inline power switch on the black cord. The lamps were made in Pakistan. The manufacturer was Fashion Stitches & More, Inc. of Dayton, New Jersey. The recalled items retailed for approximately $12 between March 2009 and May 2009. The lamps were available for sale at LTD Commodities, ABC Distributing, and Lakeside Collection catalogs, as well as on their websites.

Consumers should stop using the recalled Ionic Salt Lamps and get a replacement. A replacement cord set is available by calling any of the three Lake County firms. Two of the eight reports were hand burns.
