New York State private coach bus crashes on Adirondack Northway Highway.

New York, NY (JusticeNewsFlash.com)—A bus trip in route to visit two upstate New York prisons turned tragic when the bus overturned, leaving one dead and eight others injured, as reported by The New York Times. According to the New York State Police, the bus, which carried nine passengers, reportedly crashed near Exit 21 of the Adirondack Northway Highway around 3:15 a.m., on Sunday, July 5, 2009. The bus, operated by Angelic Tours and Shuttles, Inc., a private carrier based in Fayetteville, N.C., was taking passengers to visit the New York State prisons in Ray Brook and Malone.

The crash left one New York City woman dead, identified as Curtrice E. Gravitt, 33. Gravitt was killed after she was trapped underneath the overturned bus; she was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Gravitt suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI), and sustained severe neck and chest injuries. Seven other passengers were transported by area emergency medical services (EMS) crews to Glens Falls Hospital for treatment of their injuries. According to Glens Falls Hospital personnel, two injured passengers received surgery, and a third victim is currently in serious condition and remains in the intensive-care unit (ICU). The driver reportedly was also treated for injuries. New York State Police say the crash is under investigation; no charges have been filed at this time.
