Riverside County pickup truck rollover accident injures 4 and kills 2.

Riverside, CA–A pickup truck rollover accident claimed the lives of two people and injured four others on Sunday night. As reported by The Desert Sun, the motor vehicle collision (MVC) took place on Interstate 10, just between Chiriaco Summit and Indio. The Sunday night truck wreck happened at about 11:00 p.m. California Highway Patrol (CHP) state troopers claim a Toyota sedan hit a 2009 Dodge pickup truck. The driver of the Toyota, 23 year-old Steven Samuel Chavez of West Covina, was traveling west on I-10, west of the Cactus City rest stop. Chavez then lost control of his vehicle while driving at a fast speed. The Toyota struck a pickup truck, driven by 53 year-old Kenneth Webb of Whittier. Authorities say the car and pickup truck rolled over after spinning out of control. Both vehicles came to rest in the center median.

Police officials indicate the Dodge pickup had four passengers. The impact of the truck crash caused one of Webb’s passengers, a 43 year-old woman from Whittier, to be thrown from the vehicle. She was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the automobile accident and was killed. A second passenger, a 76 year-old woman of Whittier, died from fatal injuries. The third passenger was 45 year-old Elaina Tomlin from Whittier. She suffered serious injuries. The final passenger was a 12 year-old child from Whittier who suffered serious injuries. The driver, Webb, suffered minor injuries. Riverside County area paramedics took the three injured victims to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment by doctors and nurses. The other driver, Chavez, suffered minor injuries and was taken to John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital by Indio area emergency medical personnel.
