NY -Troy Police sport utility vehicle hits boy who is taken by emergency medical services to Albany Hospital while police detectives investigated the accident.
Troy, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — Late Tuesday Afternoon, a young boy was struck by an unnamed Police SUV in Troy, New York, near Albany, according to The Associated Press. Police authorities’ states that the 5-year old boy sprinted into the street where the SUV came barreling down the street. The vehicle was identified as a Troy police department-owned Sport Utility Vehicle by Police Detectives.
The young boy was taken to local hospital in Troy by emergency medical services, where he was then relocated to the larger Albany Medical Center. Doctors pronounced the boy dead hours later. The identity of the boy remains undisclosed for private reasons. Officials have yet to make public the name of the police- owned SUV driver, although, officials stated that he was an old timer in the Troy Police Force, which also serves the surrounding areas
The boy was said to have crossed the street to go with his cousin to go for a swim in their local pool, according to Phillip Pompey, grandfather of the boy. Officials reported that they will continue the investigation to determine the nature of accident.
