New York Police authorities accuse tow truck driver of reckless endangerment for collision accident which resulted in 3 injuries.Lockport, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – Three people were injured when a tow truck and a car collided, ultimately landing in a private pool on Tonawanda Creek Road Wednesday morning in Lockport, New York, according to Union-Sun & Journal.
Fire Rescue Authorities identified the driver of the tow truck as Adams Towing employee Nicholas Sparks. The tow truck was traveling down Tonawanda Creek road when it struck a car at an intersection in Lockport near a residential area. Sparks hit the back of the vehicle causing it to swerve out of control, slid into a nearby trench, then crashed through a resident’s backyard fence.
The car and motorcycle on the back of the tow truck flew off damaged a residential home and destroyed the air conditioning unit and house’s gas lines. After damaging the structure of the resident’s house, the front lawn and taking out the backyard fence, the tow truck landed in the private pool in the resident’s backyard.
Police Officials confirmed that the tow truck driver had been talking on the phone and texting at the same time. The phone has been confiscated by police authorities to thoroughly investigate the driver’s phone call history and search the vehicle for other possible causes for the wreck.
The woman driving the car, hit by the tow truck driver, was transported to Erie County Medical Center via trauma helicopter for her serious injuries. Her passenger, recognized as the driver’s 8-year-old great- niece, was taken to Women and Children’s Hospital for her injuries. Their car was devastated.
The tow truck driver will be accused for reckless endangerment and tailgating, according to Authorities. Fire Rescue workers cleaned up the scene for hours after the accident, closing Tonawanda Creek Road temporarily. Police officials are still investigating.
