West Palm Beach product liability lawyer recall alert for American Honda Motor defective driver side airbags.
West Palm Beach, FL–American Honda Motor Co., announced the recall of 440,000 additional Honda Accords, Civics, and Acura TL models for the potentially defective driver-side airbags on Friday, as reported by CNN. The automobile manufacturer claims there is a possible defect in the airbags inflation system in various 2001-2002 Accords, 2001 Civics and 2002-2003 Acura TLs. The motor vehicles added to the recall require the steering wheel mounted airbag inflator to be replaced.
According to the Honda officials the defect has caused six known injuries in drivers and one confirmed death. Apparently, the airbag inflator can over-pressurize during inflation of the driver’s front airbag during deployment. This over-pressurization of the driver side airbag can cause the airbag to explode and rupture on inflation launching metal fragments through the airbag and into the driver of the motor vehicle. Owners of Honda and Acura automobiles who are concerned about their airbags may go to the Honda corporate website at http://www.owners.honda.com/recalls and click on the “Owner Link” or visit the Acura Web site at http://www.owners.acura.com/recalls and view “My Acura” for detailed information about the defective automobile product recall.
