Federal Aviation Administration alerts aviation accident attorneys- Continental Airlines’ Boeing 767 lands at Miami International Airport citing injuries.

Houston, TX—Extreme turbulence is to blame for injuring dozens of passengers on board the Continental Airlines Flight 128. The Boeing 767 aircraft was en route from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Houston, Texas on Monday, August 3, 2009 around 4:30 a.m., as reported by CNN.

The Continental Airlines plane with 169 passengers and 11 crew members on board experienced turbulence about 50 miles north of the Dominican Republic at around 38,000 feet. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) http://www.faa.gov/ officials stated the flight was rerouted to the Miami International Airport where several ambulances were waiting on the runway. According to officials with the Miami-Dade fire rescue, 13 passengers were transported by emergency medical service (EMS) crews to local hospitals for treatment of their serious injuries. Four of the injured passengers are currently listed in critical condition. EMS personnel also treated 22 other passengers at the scene. The reported injuries ranged from bumps and bruises to neck and back pains. The plane reportedly landed in Miami at around 5:35 a.m. with all its seat belt signs illuminated.

According to Continental Airlines, another flight is scheduled to depart from Miami to Houston sometime today for those passengers who were not seriously injured in the turbulence. The uninjured passengers were required to remain on the plane fore nearly 3 hours while rescue teams treated the injured passengers.
