New Jersey bicyclist hit in New York motor vehicle accident, suffers serious head injuries

NJ bicyclist was struck by a car and suffered severe head injuries in the accident and transported by paramedics for his injuries.

Atlantic County, NJ (NewYorkInjuryNew.com) — In Egg Harbor Township, a man riding his bicycle was hit by a car on Wednesday, July 29, as per the Shores News Today.  The bicyclist was traveling in a rainstorm when a 2009 Ford Taurus struck the bicyclist on Washington Avenue adjacent to the Garden State Parkway expressway.

The driver identified as 32 year-old Cornell Jordan resident of New York, New York. Cornell was entering the Parkway entry way when he struck the bicyclist who was a local of Egg Harbor Township.  The bicyclist was identified as local resident, 57- year-old Charles Gidding, who was transported via emergency service vehicles by paramedics for severe head wounds, to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, where he was placed in the trauma unit for treatment.

Police officials reported that Gidding had been dressed in appropriate riding attire. Gidding was wearing his safety helmet, rain jacket and hood, and reflectors to inform vehicles of his whereabouts.

The crash stopped traffic on the scene for a couple hours afterward. Detectives continue to gather more evidence of the accident to determine the next course of action for the case.
