New York Work-Related Firefighter Attorney reports on New York house fire injured 3 firefighters and killed 3 people found with gunshot wounds leaving 2 survivors.
Suffolk County, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – In Central Islip, neighbors reported a house fire where 3 people were found dead with gunshot wounds leaving only two child survivors, announced Newsday.
Fire Rescue workers from the surrounding Counties and police officials arrived on Hickory Street to search out any survivors and extinguish the immense house fire. The flames were coming out of every window. Investigators believe that the fire was started with criminal intent. Firefighters pulled two adult bodies from amidst the ruin and debris within the house.
They were identified as 31-year-old Katrice Daniels, 19-year-old Luis Calixto. Rescue officials also located another woman, who was unidentified, in the backyard of the house.The house was overtaken by the out of control blaze before officials could salvage the home. After police examined the bodies and discovered gunshot wounds in each of the three victims, detectives determined that this was an act of arson.
The only survivors of the massive blaze were the 2 children, who were in the least damaged room in the house. The 6-year-old woke up to the smell of smoke and removed his 2-year-old sister out of the house and escaped with no injuries, reported police. The 2 young children were transported to the hospital for safety precautions even though they were uninjured.
Police decided that children were most likely being put in the protection and care of Suffolk County Child Protection Services. The house on Hickory was being rented through Brooklyn homeowner Kim Graves who would not disclose the tenant’s names. Central Islip
Firefighters were taken care of by Emergency Medical paramedics for minor injuries and burns from the blaze. This case investigation is underway.
