Nassau County, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – In Freeport, a worker at a nursing home care worker neglected the woman for whom he was responsible, announced Newsday.
The victim was the caretakers’ sick mother, who he left starving and helpless for two days before calling the police to come. The police found 64-year-old woman lying on the ground in her own house, in a puddle of her own defecation and urine, missing articles of clothing from attempting to get off the floor.
The injured and traumatized woman was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Nassau University Medical Center. She suffered a serious heart attack from the time she left her home to the hospital and remains under the treatment and supervision of doctors and nurses and was on life support as of Friday.
The negligent caretaker son was identified as Lacy Reid, 45, who worked for a elderly care home in North Woodmere, New York. Police have accused Lacy Reid for endangering the life of another. Reid can do up to 7 years of prison time if found guilty. It is not known if Reid has contacted a lawyer to represent him.
The negligent woman’s name remains undisclosed. Investigators stated that the woman fell down in her kitchen on Tuesday evening and was not given due care until the ambulance showed up Friday morning as her son called 911. Investigators continue to gather evidence.
