Pennsylvania personal injury attorney alert- A Napier Township vehicle crash involving a Chevrolet Trailblazer kills three teens.
Altoona, PA—A two-vehicle wreck left three teenagers dead after they pulled in front of an oncoming car at the intersection of Ferguson Road and Valley Road in Napier Township. The crash happened on Monday night, August 17, 2009 around 8 p.m., as reported by The Tribune-Democrat.
According to police officials, a 1999 Plymouth Neon driven by Steven Mowery, 17, pulled onto Valley Road in front of an oncoming 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Tracy Winegardner, 37, of Schellsburg. The SUV slammed into the car, which left Mowery and a passenger, Brandi Storm, 15, dead at the scene of the crash. Another passenger inside the car, Rodger James McGarry III, 18, suffered severe injuries. Area emergency medical services (EMS) crews airlifted McGarry to Altoona Regional Health Systems for treatment. Attending doctors and nurses later pronounced McGarry dead. None of the teenagers were reportedly wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision. The SUV suffered severe damage and Winegardner also suffered injuries. It is unknown whether Winegardner was transported by EMS crews to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries.
The teenagers are reportedly students at the Chestnut Ridge High School, and would have returned to school next week. Winegardner will not face any criminal charges in connection with the two-vehicle crash. PennDOT’s Hollidaysburg-based traffic units are investigating the intersection and the roads where the crash occurred.
