Suffolk County, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A four vehicle pileup in the town of Dix Hills, in Long Island, involving a Petro Oil Company semi, killed one elderly woman and hospitalized one man, announced Newsday.

Officials reported the crash began when a 1995 Buick with driver, 83-year-old Thomas Baylis, pulled in front of a Petro Oil Company semi truck driver Roy Ferrara. The Buick driver lost control of his vehicle swerving and crashed into a third vehicle. The driver of the 1997 Mercury was identified as 45-year-old Donna Vernicek, resident of Hampton Bays. Then, then Petro Oil Semi crashed into a 2008 Toyota. Officials identified the driver of the Toyota as Massachusetts resident 62-year-old Dorothy Fox.

The 4-vehicle collision happened early afternoon at the crossroads of DeForest Road and Deer Park Road. The crash also severely injured 83-year-old Thomas Baylis, who was taken to a local hospital for serious head wounds. The driver of the Toyota was remained uninjured. 63-year-old Martin Fox was one of the two passengers traveling in the Toyota. Suffolk County officials reported a 93-year-old Frieda Newman, resident of Massachusetts, passenger in the Toyota, was killed in the tragic accident.

The driver of the Petro Oil Company semi sustained a minor leg injury and was transported to a nearby medical center to be treated by doctors and nurses. He was discharged later Thursday evening. Police detectives are continuing to investigate this 4-vehicle crash.
