New York Motor Vehicle Accident Lawyers report a NY car accident where police van collided with jeep liberty fatally injured a passenger.
Cazenovia, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – In the town of Cazenovia, a Jeep collided head on with an Onondaga County police vehicle on Sunday killing one passenger and injuring the driver and one other passenger, announced the Post-Standard.
The man killed in the accident, only noted as a resident of Cazenovia, has not been identified by officials publicly as of yet. The Sheriffs vehicle was driving by off-duty officials of the department who were authorized to use the police vehicle to transport materials for a police union event. Officials stated that the police were traveling south toward the town of Cazenovia when it crashed with the Jeep Liberty heading northbound on Route 92, when the driver attempted to turn into Cazenovia Golf Club. The Jeep collided head on with the police van.
Emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene to transport the injured and critically wounded to University Hospital in Syracuse, New York. The driver of the Jeep, identified as Barbara Evans, survived with one of her passengers, Chris Lane. They were both taken to the hospital for minor injuries due to the crash. Passenger James Evans was taken by paramedics to the Hospital where doctors declared him to be dead.
Onondaga County or Madison County officials have not publicly announced the personal information about the three people in the Jeep involved in the crash.
The policeman driving the van was an off-duty investigation specialist traveling with a deputy of the Onondaga police department. The names of the officials involved in the collision will not been disclosed until the families are contacted. The two police officials were transported to Crouse Hospital to be assessed for injuries suffered during the collision. Information about the condition of the deputies has not been released. Investigation is underway.
