Long Island Trucking Accident Attorneys reports a big rig collision killed one Suffolk County woman in Veterans Memorial Highway in NY.
Suffolk County, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – a 21-year-old woman resident of Nesconset was tragically killed after colliding with a tractor trailer Tuesday evening, announced Long Island Press. The vehicle and tractor trailer collision occurred in Holbrook, a borough of Suffolk County, where police investigators reported to the scene.
Officials learned that the Long Island driver of the 1998 Ford was 21-year-old Leann Mazzeo, who was heading south east on Veterans Memorial Freeway close to Broadway Road where the truck swerved in front and struck her vehicle. The impact of the crash made Mazzeo’s vehicle slide off the highway killing her in the wreck.
Suffolk police reported that the driver of the semi was identified as East Stroudsburg, PA resident 44-year-old Bruce Shively, who appeared uninjured in the collision. Emergency medical personnel declared Leann Mazzeo dead on the highway scene of the collision. Suffolk detective investigators took possession of Ms. Mazzeo’s damaged vehicle to make sure there were not any complications due to her vehicle, which could have contributed to the crash.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Team (FMCSA) a separate administration from the Department of Transportation, is investigating the big rig collision. The FMCSA provides government teams to investigate crashes involving Big Rig vehicles and to develop injury and crash prevention for large transportation vehicles.
