Utah personal injury lawyers alert- Four teens traveling in a Chevy Aveo were killed in a wreck after hitting a concrete barrier.
Provo, UT—Four teens were tragically killed in a single motor vehicle crash along Emma Park Road. The wreck happened on in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 30, 2009, as reported by the Desert News.
The four Utah County teens were traveling westbound in a sub-compact Chevrolet Aveo at a high rate of speed on Emma Park Road. Investigators believe the car was traveling at speeds near 95 miles per hour somewhere in between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Sunday morning. At some point during the teen’s joy ride, the car exited the roadway and slammed into a concrete barrier. The car hit the barrier on the passenger side, which caused the car to flip over the concrete barrier lining the curve in the road. The Aveo finally came to a stop 10 feet from the first point of impact. The impact of the crash was reportedly so intense it broke the concrete barrier in two pieces and left the car completely destroyed. The driver of the Chevy Aveo, Jose Flores, 16, of Orem, reportedly survived for a short time after he crash and was able to walk or crawl a short distance from the wreckage before dying. The three passengers, Mauro Lopes, 16, of Orem; Manuel Gonzalez, 19, of Orem; and Vanessa Estrada, 13, of Payson, were all killed on impact of the violent crash. A Price dispatch center volunteer found and reported the crash at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday. Police officials do not believe drugs or alcohol are a factor, but investigators are conducting toxicology reports.
