Brooklyn, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – An impoverished, disabled man living on the streets of Brooklyn was killed in Crown Heights, Brooklyn by a moving vehicle, announced New York Daily News.

The man who lived in a wheelchair was on Eastern Parkway when he was crossing the traffic laden Brooklyn street where he was hit and killed by a car. The homeless man’s identity has not been discovered as of yet. Witnesses said that the man could be found begging for money from passersby on the corners of Brooklyn. Officials reported that witnesses saw the man attempting to cross the road at around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.

The man in the wheelchair entered the busy street against a traffic light, avoided two oncoming vehicles but was then struck by a Mazda traveling in the eastbound lanes. The homeless man and his wheelchair were catapulted close to 50 feet above the ground before landing in the middle of the street.

One eyewitness said that she heard a thud and looked to see the man hit the windshield of the Mazda before flying into the air propelled by the force of the crash. The witness reported that when the man was launched into the air, the force of the crash dismembered his prosthetic leg. The homeless man’s wheelchair was destroyed and laid in the middle of the busy City street.

The driver, whose name went undisclosed, was arrested by NYPD that night after the wreck. Charges for the crash are in process, reported officials.
