New York Medical Malpractice Lawyer Announcement: Bronx woman sued doctors after undiagnosed lump became cancerous and turned fatal.
Bronx, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A Bronx woman died of breast cancer after her doctors and medical laboratory failed to inform her of a lump in her breast, announced New York Daily News.
The 47-year-old wife and mother of three, Monica Brown, has received a 3 million dollar settlement in lawsuit in Bronx Supreme Court claiming that the medical professionals failed to inform her of the lump that turned cancerous and killed her in 2007. The doctors and University Diagnostics Medical Imaging in Morris Park, New York where Brown had went for a routine mammogram in 2001 and 2002, was where the x-ray technician had taken note of a lump growing in Mrs. Brown’s breast, but failed to notify her and her doctor.
The center claimed that the test results had in fact been sent to Doctor Saleem Karim’s office; however, Brown was still not contacted with the vital information about her mammogram. The Bronx Supreme Court ruled in favor of Mrs. Brown’s case stating that the test results were never given to Brown so that she could take the necessary actions to save her life.
In 2004, Brown noticed a lump in her breast, and she was tested and was diagnosed with cancer, which had already spread from her breasts to her liver, attested court documents. Mrs. Brown filed a lawsuit against her doctor and the Medical testing lab. She died from cancer in March 2007 before she settled the case.
Her widowed Husband, David Nixon, agreed to the settlement of $1.3 million from Dr. Ralph Lichtenstein, and the Diagnostics lab, and $1.7 from Dr. Saleem Karim.
