Brooklyn, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A young boy was fatally injured when he was struck by a driver on Saturday morning, announced the New York Daily News.
The 9-year-old boy was crossing Wallabout Street about a block away from his home, when a Honda was speeding down the Street to make a turn onto Bedford Avenue when she hit and killed the boy, reported New York police officials (NYPD).
Police arrived at the scene of the accident to discover that the driver of the Honda was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. The boy, identified as Joshua Ganzfried, was lying on the pavement while witnesses stood in shock at what had just taken place around 8 a.m. on Saturday.
Emergency medical services (EMS) responded to the accident to transport the fatally critically injured boy to the Brooklyn Hospital where his injuries proved fatal shortly after he was admitted.
The driver of the Honda was identified as 54-year-old Novella Bilkerdyka, resident of Brooklyn. She stood at the scene of the accident shocked at what she had done, and police charged her with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. Police reported that Bilkerdyka had already been noted four times for being dropped from her insurance in the last three years.
