Worcester, MA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A man from Hudson was in serious condition along with a woman, who was declared stable at the UMass Memorial Medical Center, after being in a three vehicle crash on I-290 on Sunday morning, announced the Metro West Daily News.
State Police reported that the accident took place around 10:40 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-290 close to Exit 25A. 58 –year-old Joseph Gorman, resident of Hudson, was traveling as a passenger in the 1995 GMC Jimmy, and was ejected out of the SUV in the crash.
Emergency medical services (EMS) transported Gorman via trauma helicopter to the UMass Memorial Medical Center to be treated for his possibly life-threatening wounds. The trauma helicopter made a quick landing on the highway to pickup Gorman. I-290 was shut down for several hours following the crash for police detectives to perform a detailed investigation on the wreckage and debris.
The driver of the SUV needed fire rescue official to extricate her out of the damaged vehicle. She was identified as 48-year-old Jacqueline Gorman, resident of Hudson. She was transported via ambulance to the Worcester Hospital to be treated for her injuries. Medical officials reported that she was in much better condition today than she was immediately after the crash.
Another passenger in the wreck was 21-year-old Gregory Gorman was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center for treatment and was released that night. The two other vehicles identified as a 2008 Honda Fit and a 2000 Volvo S40 was also damaged in the crash. The driver of the Volvo was identified as 48-year-old James Owusu, resident of Worcester.
He was also transported to the UMass Medical Center where he was treated and released. The driver of the Honda was identified as 59-year-old Patricia Shingia, resident of Haverhill, did not sustain injuries due to the crash. Police continue to investigate the accident. The cause of the wreck has yet to be determined.
