Boston, MA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – All the guests staying at a hotel in Boston were required to evacuate the whole building due to elevated levels of carbon monoxide that was discovered, announced the Boston Globe.
All the hotel staff, guest and movie crew staying at the Liberty Hotel was immediately made to leave the premises. Hundreds of people were evacuated included all of the animals that the movie crew were using for the production that was being filmed in Boston. Hundreds of people were told to exit onto Charles Street in front of the building. Many were fearful that the toxic fumes would make all the animals fall ill before the shoot.
Boston firefighters responded to the call early Wednesday morning to respond to the hotel’s situation around 9:30 am, announced a Boston Fire Department representative. The Liberty Hotel used to be the former Charles Street prison, which had been transformed into a luxurious hotel with presently 300 rooms.
Firefighters identified higher levels of carbon monoxide in the hotel’s hallways and the stairwells. Police investigators located the source of the problem to the boiler room, where they found a small break in the boiler, which had released the poisonous gas into the main areas of the hotel. Then, the hotel central air circulation system pushed the poisonous gas throughout the entire building—in the rooms, hallways, and lobby etc.
It is not know how long the gas had been circulating throughout the building before it was discovered. By the middle of the afternoon, crew, guests and primates were permitted to re-enter the hotel. No injuries have been reported as of yet.
