Pensacola, FL—A teenager was seriously injured after she ran a stop sign and slammed into an Escambia County school bus. The two-vehicle crash happened on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 around 8:24 a.m. at the intersection of Jordan and T streets, as reported by the Pensacola News Journal.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), Shacavia M. Sneed, 18, of Pensacola reportedly ran a stop sign at T Street and hit an Escambia County school bus, which was transporting seven children. The front end of the school bus hit the driver’s side door of the four-door car Sneed was driving. The seven children, who are between the ages of 3 and 4, were reportedly uninjured in the wreck. The school bus was en route to the McMillan Learning Center when the collision occurred. Sneed was transported by area emergency medical services (EMS) crews to the Baptist Hospital for treatment of her injuries sustained in the two-vehicle crash. The driver of the school bus, Cynthia Watson, 55, also suffered injuries in the crash. It is unknown if the bus driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries. Police officials issued Sneed a traffic citation for failure to stop at a stop sign. Pensacola area police officials are reportedly conduction a full investigation into the two-vehicle wreck.
