Motor Vehicle Accident Notice: NJ police officer hospitalized after dump truck collision!

Florence, NJ (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A police officer of Florence was critically injured after colliding with a dump truck Monday morning, announced the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The officer was traveling in his department squad vehicle at the time of the accident down at the intersection of Route 130 and Cedar Lane.

Police and emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene of the crash. Police reported the crash to have occurred around 11:54 a.m. A medical helicopter transported the injured police officer to a Trenton-area local hospital to be treated by doctors and nurses. The injured police officer was identified as Jason Shafer. The condition of his health has not been released as of yet.

The officer was traveling in a squad car at the time; however it was not reported as to whether or not he was officially on-duty. The dump truck driver remained uninjured and was identified as Melvin Watson. The wreck temporarily closed the Route 130 southbound lanes for close to 5 hours. Police have not filed any charges or issued any tickets yet.

Florence police are investigating this crash that has been one of three crashes that have involved Florence police officers in the past few months.
