Legal news for Connecticut Personal Injury lawyers– Mother of boy who suffered brain injury will sue police for failure to stop the speeding car before it crashed.
Bristol, CT (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A parent, whose child was injured in a car crash, claims that on-duty officers neglected to stop the vehicle barreling down the street swerving out of control down Route 6 for several miles, announced the Hartford Courant.
The boy, identified as 13-year-old Tyler Cyr, along with Walter Madore’s two children were injured when Madore’s SUV launched off the road and smashed into a utility pole around 1:30 a.m. on a March morning. Madore was killed on the scene.
The mother of the boy, Tisha Moyer, contended that there were several Bristol policemen in the area who could have stopped the vehicle before the accident from taking place. Moyer’s lawyer stated that the four police officers present at the location along Route 6 neglected the situation of Madore’s speeding vehicle.
The Bristol police detectives investigating the crash discovered that the SUV was traveling at twice the speed limit at the time. Madore, the 40-year-old driver, was taken to the medical examiners officer where an autopsy determined that he had consumed massive amounts of alcohol before he picked up Cyr and his sons from a friend’s home.
The pending suit was filed based on the evidence that police squad cars were positioned where Madore drove passed all four of the police without being stopped by reckless driving and speeding. The notice allegedly charges police for neglect and failure to protect the children traveling in the speeding vehicle. Tyler Moyer sustained a brain injury, leg and other wounds, as well as post traumatic stress as a result of the accident.
