Montgomery, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – An SUV traveling through a neighborhood with eight teenagers, swerved off the road and flipped over several times, announced the Times Herald-Record.
The rollover crash occurred Wednesday afternoon around 1p.m. Residents reported that crashes have happened more frequently on River Road over the past years. New York police investigators reported that the gray Kia Sport Utility Vehicle was carrying three more passengers than the vehicle can hold, and the teenagers are lucky to be alive.
Two of the teenagers were catapulted out of the vehicle from the force of the crash. Emergency medical services (EMS) arrived to transport the injured to hospitals. Three of the teenagers were taken via trauma helicopter to the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York. Five other teenagers were transported to the St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital to be treated for their injuries.
Police did not believe that speed played a role in the accident. Several neighborhood residents heard the crash and went out to the scene. Police officials believed that the accident appeared to be caused by inattentiveness. New York police are investigating the SUV rollover crash. Police did not release the condition or the identities of the hospitalized teenagers.
