Shippensburg Township, PA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A Shippensburg man was taken to Hershey Medical Center for head trauma after he was struck by a pickup truck, announced The Sentinel.
The man was riding his bicycle Thursday evening traveling on Route 174 when a pickup truck struck him and then continued to drive away from the scene, reported police. Officials identified the injured bicyclist as a man named James T. Perkins, resident of Shippensburg. Emergency medical services (EMS) arrived on the scene to transport the injured man via trauma helicopter to Hersey Medical Center.
The accident took place in the east bound lanes of Route 174 when the pickup truck, traveling westbound, allegedly did not see the bicyclist when he was turning onto the entrance of the expressway of Interstate 81. The driver struck Perkins. The bicyclist fell to the pavement and injured his head.
A Hersey hospital representative commented on Perkins condition stating that he was still in serious condition as of Friday morning. The crash was determined to have been a hit and run. The driver of the pickup truck is not yet known. Police are continuing to investigate.
