7 injured when truck struck school bus

New Scotland, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A pickup truck crashed into a school bus and sent 4 children to the hospital with minor injuries, announced the Albany Times Union.

Albany police reported that the pickup truck ran a stop sign and struck the school bus Friday afternoon after school. The accident occurred around 3 p.m. at the intersection of Picard Road and Route 156. Police reported that the bus was also transporting several mentally and physically disabled children.

The driver of the pickup truck was identified by police as 55-year-old Anthony Vadalabene, resident of Berne. The school bus was identified as part of the Durham School Service providers and was transporting the children home from Cobb Memorial School located in Altamont.

Emergency medical services (EMS) responded to the scene to transport the children to the St. Peter’s Hospital. An ambulance took the pickup truck driver to Albany Memorial Hospital while the driver of the school bus and an aid were taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital to be treated for their injuries.

The bus driver sustained the most severe injuries; however, none of the injuries were life-threatening. The pickup truck driver was issued a ticket and summonses.
