Police reported that the construction worker was working on Interstate 95 when he was struck by a pickup truck around 7 a.m. and thrown into the cement median. The Berwick man, identified as 34-year-old Travis Pelletier, was suffered severe injuries in the accident.
The worker was crossing the lanes of traffic to fix a construction work sign when the pickup truck hit Pelletier in the south lane approaching the 27 mile marker.The driver of the pickup truck was identified by state troopers as 26 year-old Adam Johnson, resident of Scarborough. Emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene of the highway crash to transport the injured Pelletier. He was taken to the Maine Medical Center to be treated by doctors and nurses for his serious injuries.
State troopers announced that pickup truck driver will probably not be charged for this accident. The construction worker was employed by Brown Industrial Group, primarily based in Berwick, Maine.
