Legal news for product liability lawyers—Consumer product safety commission recalled fuel containers for product malfunction and fire hazard that pose injury.
WASHINGTON, DC (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – The Federal agency the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in cooperation with Lamplight Farms Inc. has recently recalled three quarter of a million Flame Guards on Clear-Vu Torch Fuel Containers.
Consumers who have purchased this product are advised to not use them at this time due to the voluntary recall. The number of units that are being recalled are approximately 720,000. The company Lamplight Farms Inc is based out of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.
The reason for the voluntary recall of the Flame Guard on Clear-Vu containers is due to the fact that the fuel containers can pose a fire hazard due to a product malfunction and it can melt the containers while the torch is being used. There have been 35 complaints about the product with one report of a burn injury.
In order to identify a Clear-VU Torch Fuel Container, consumers are to locate a “RC” emblem on the back side of the flame guard. Torches that were sold as a package deal with the fuel containers are not affected by this recall.
The China-manufactured units have been sold at Discount, Hardware, and home improvement stores across the nation since January 2008. The cost of the product was between 1 and 3 dollars. Consumers are advised to contact Lamplight for a free repair kit.
