Massachusetts police reported that the accident took place at the intersection of Reservation Road and Smithfield Road in Hyde Park, an urban south neighborhood located in Boston. Police and emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene to transport the injured to medical facilities.
Eye-witnesses told police on the scene that the van was speeding down the road when it skidded into the school bus while it was attempting to brake. Police did not publicly release the identities of the drivers of the van or the school bus. Two children, who were passengers on the school bus, complained of pain in their heads after the accident. An ambulance transported the two injured children to the local Children’s Hospital to be treated by doctors and nurses.
