The Lisle-Naperville, Illinois Hilton was named in a lawsuit filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission citing discrimination against Hispanics in the work place.

Illinois employment law attorneys-file lawsuit against Naperville, Illinois Hilton for alleged hostile work environment against Hispanic workers.

Chicago, IL–Fireside West, LLC, which does business as the Hilton in Lisle/Naperville, Illinois was charged with Title VII violations by the EEOC in U.S. District Court in Chicago (Civil Action 09-CV-05979). Discrimination in the work place attorneys with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) http://www.eeoc.gov received complaints from two former Hispanic employees of the hotel complaining of a hostile work environment. The federal employment law attorneys claim the EEOC’s investigation revealed the executive chef would openly use derogatory words and direct inflammatory language at Hispanic workers.

The alleged conduct clearly violates the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title VII. The press release by the EEOC asserts the act prohibits discrimination in the work place based on race color, religion, sex (including sexual harassment or pregnancy) or natural origin and further provides protection to employees who have fallen victim of this type of abuse. The law also protects victims of employment discrimination from retaliation for complaining about being harassed at work. Companies, like the Hilton, have a responsibility to protect their employees from a hostile work environment. The EEOC is responsible for enforcing federal laws which prohibit discrimination in employment and workers who feel they have been wronged may receive help by accessing the EEOC website as listed above and by contacting an employment law attorney who specializes in discrimination at work.
