Houston, TX–Air France Flight 447, a commercial flight carrying 216 passengers and 12 crew members, crashed on June 1, 2009 off the northern coast of Brazil. All 228 people on board are believed to be dead and the families of two Houston area residents who were lost that fateful day filed a claim in Houston federal court. Air France is one of several named defendants in the grieving families suit as reported by the Houston Chronicle on September 30, 2009.

Air France was operating and Airbus 330-200 and airplane crash attorneys representing the estates of the decedents, Michael and Anne Harris, assert defective parts contributed to the Air France’s worst aviation disaster in history. The plane went down after taking off from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil en route to Paris, France and all 228 passengers and crew members are presumed dead. Search and rescue teams recovered 51 bodies and the black box recorder was not retrieved from the ocean. Aviation accident attorneys who filed the lawsuit in a Houston federal court on behalf of the heirs names Airbus plane manufacturer, Honeywell International equipment makers, Air France commercial passenger airliner, Rockwell Collins, and Thales SA. The airplane crash wrongful death suit seeks unspecified damages from the named defendants.
