Massachusetts Personal Injury Alert: Man hit and killed by BMW

Medford, MA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) –A man was hit by a moving vehicle on Route 28 on Thursday evening, October 8, 2009, announced the Boston Globe.

Police identified the driver of the 2003 BMW X5 as 22-year-old Brian Fountain, resident of Saugus. Fountain struck the pedestrian on Fellsway close to Fourth Street at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, according to authorities.

Fountain remained unharmed in the incident. The pedestrian is not identified so that his family may be notified first. Emergency medical services (EMS) responded to the accident and transported the injured man to the Massachusetts General Hospital. State police declared that the severely injured man later died at the hospital.

Medford Fire rescue Chief Steve Howe stated that this roadway has always been a frequent spot for vehicle accidents, whereas pedestrian accidents are not common for the are. This area serves as a residential area, which experiences heavy traffic flow due to businesses in the area.

Police closed Route 28 for hours after the wreck so that police investigators could analyze the scene of the incident to determine how it happened. Authorities have not pressed charges against Fountain at this time.
