Earl Township, PA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A three-vehicle collision killed two people and injured another in Earl Township on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, according to the Reading Eagle.
Two drivers were fatally injured in a head-on collision around 11:15 a.m. on Route 73. Police identified the drivers as 27-year-old Rachel Young, resident of Earl Township, and 78-year-old Paul Yoder, resident of Boyertown. Rachel was traveling fast while heading east, when her vehicle went into the other lane and struck Paul Yoder’s SUV. Rachel’s vehicle rolled into the guardrail and landed on its roof, after sending the SUV spinning across the road. Another driver traveling on Route 73, identified as 62-year-old Susan Meredith, resident of Douglasville, collided with Yoder’s SUV after the initial impact of the other two vehicles.
Both Young and Yoder were declared dead at the scene of the accident by the Berks County Medical Examiner’s Coroner Kurt E. Katzenmoyer. Police investigators pronounced that the wreck and the deaths were a tragic accident. No further investigation or autopsy was planned. A medical helicopter flew Susan to Lehigh Valley Hospital to be treated by doctors and nurses for her injuries. Officials reported that she was fair condition that night.
