Columbia, MD (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A young teenager was struck by a moving vehicle and was hospitalized for his injuries on Monday, October 12, 2009, announced the Baltimore Sun. The 14-year-old boy, resident of Columbia, was traveling down the right side of the roadway on his bicycle when he was struck. A vehicle came up behind the teen cyclist who was riding with another bicyclist alongside the road, when the boy decided to make a sharp left-hand turn directly in front of the car.

The Ford Focus struck the teen bicyclist in the middle of Twin Rivers Road around 6 p.m. Maryland police officials reported to the scene. They identified the injured boy as Sergial Brown. A State Police helicopter transported Sergial to John Hopkins Hospital to be treated for his injuries by doctors and nurses.

The Ford Focus that hit the boy was driven by a 61-year-old Columbia woman identified as Sandra Leland. She was reportedly not injured in the collision. Maryland Police are continuing to investigate the crash. Medical officials reported that the boy was in good condition. Police did not announce if charges would be pressed. The investigation continues.
