New York police officials report a sport utility vehicle crash fatally injured the driver after he was ejected.
Staten Island, New York (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A man from Staten Island was fatally injured when his Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) crushed him after he was ejected from the drivers’ seat through his windshield on Sunday, October 18, 2009, announced WCAX.
Police responded to the fatal accident that occurred on Hylan Boulevard. Officials identified the man that had been ejected from his vehicle as 47-year-old Oleg Kantarovich. Oleg, who was a victim to his own vehicle, was declared dead at the scene of the accident. Police arrived at the scene and described the victim as unconscious with a severe back injury due to the crash.
Police officials reported that Oleg was attempting to back out of a public parking spot when his SUV apparently accelerated and crashed into a tree. The speed of the SUV threw the man out in front of the path of the vehicle. Oleg was run over and the SUV crashed into a tree.
There were no passengers in the SUV at the time of the crash. Police are continuing to investigate to determine the cause of this fatal freakish accident. It was not disclosed if Oleg had any family members that were contacted.
