Motorcyclist fatally injured after head-on collision in Maryland

Westminster, MD (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A man from Carroll County was fatally injured in a motorcycle crash when a car struck him on Monday, October 19, 2009, announced the Baltimore Sun.

Police reported that a car collided with the motorcyclist head-on. The impact of the crash catapulted the motorcyclist more than 60 feet away from his bike. Police reported that the motorcyclist had been traveling north on Route 97. At the same time, a sheriff’s unmarked vehicle drove in front of the cyclist. Officer Mario DeVivio alerted the motorcyclist to pull over. The rider sped up blatantly refusing to pull over for the officer.

The motorcyclist, identified as 28-year-old Edward N. Dill, was speeding down the Route when he crossed the center line swerved into the other lane and collided with a Ford Fusion.

Dill was riding his 2004 Yamaha motorcycle at the time of a collision. An emergency helicopter flew Dill to Shock Trauma and his grave injuries proved fatal hours after arriving at the medical center. The driver of the Ford Fusion was transported to Carroll Hospital to be treated for injuries. He was later released.

The 2004 Yamaha motorcycle was reported stolen by Penn Township police, who had performed an investigation of the crash. Anyone who has information pertaining to the collision is asked to contact Sergeant Mike Zepp at (410)-386-2900 or mzepp@ccg.carr.org. The investigation continues.
