Windham, NH (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A school bus traveling with nine students on board was stopped with its lights flashing and stop signs extended when it was struck by a pickup truck and the bus launched 40-feet forward on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, as reported by the Boston Herald.
The New Hampshire school bus company representative stated the bus had been making a routine drop off point and the driver had the bus alert signs flashing when the truck crashed into it and injured eight students. Police reported that the crash took place in Windham on Route 111 on Wednesday afternoon.
The eight injured people in the crash involved high school students from Salem High School. The school bus was being driven by First Student Co. Eight of the injured people were transported via emergency medical services (EMS) to a local hospital to be examined and treated by doctors and nurses for their injuries. The bus was capable of holding 20 passengers. It was only traveling with nine at the time of the crash.
Fire Chief Tom McPherson reported that the students and the driver of the pickup truck and the school bus were transported to the hospital to be examined.
