New York, NY–A baby food manufacturer issued a recall of certain types of their pouch food products for possible Botulism contamination on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, as reported by the NYDaily News. California based Plum Organics announced a recall of apple and carrot flavored baby food due to an increased risk of botulism poisoning.
Plum Organics, a baby food manufacturer, says the product did not meet U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) http://www.fda.gov requirements and even though botulism is a rare disease, if infected the illness is very serious and sometimes fatal. No illnesses have been reported and the baby food which is sold at Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us comes in 4.22 ounce pouches with a “best by” date of May 21, 2010. The UPC number is 890180001221.
