OSHA investigated and police officials reported the tragic death of New Jersey construction worker.

Plum, PA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) www.osha.gov officials are to investigate the tragic death of a construction worker who was fatally injured while working at an elderly residential assisted living facility on Thursday, October 22, 2009, according to the Star-Ledger.

The New Jersey construction worker was in the process of moving a heavy piece of machinery at the facility near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, when the accident occurred.

Plum Police officials reported that the 29-year-old P&B Partition company employee had been working on the fourth floor when a crane struck a concrete slab and caused it to fall on the worker and crush him.

Police reported the fatal accident to have taken place around 2 p.m. on Thursday. The young construction worker was identified as Yamil Gonzalez, who was declared dead shortly after the incident by the police.

The company that had employed Gonzalez for the construction job was P&B Partitions, based out of West Berlin, New Jersey. Police were not clear what caused the accident. OSHA was scheduled to probe the situation Friday to determine what caused the workers death.
