(NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation Cambridge Silversmith Ltd Inc., announced the recall of the flatware due to potential choking hazard. People who have purchased this hazardous product are advised to discontinue use immediately unless otherwise informed.
The flatware set is called Fiesta Masquerade and Home Olympic Flatware. A reported 13,000 units were sold nationwide prior to this recall. The product was distributed out of Fairfield, New Jersey.
The potential danger of using the defective flatware is that the handles could come unglued during a dish-washing cycle then posing a choking threat for young children. There have been 28 reports of plastic inserts falling off the flatware and one injury has been reported. The Fiesta Flatware set is described as silver with colorful handles that are red, orange, yellow, green, and various shades of blue. The Home Olympic Flatware sets are charcoal with decorative black inserts on the handles.
These products were sold exclusively at JC Penny, Federated Department Stores, Bealls, and Homer Laughlin. Fiesta Masquerade was sold from November 2008 to May 2009 for $70 per 20-piece set. The Home Olympic sold at Target from August 2008 through August 2009 for a cost of $30 per 20-piece set.
