Homicide at work sites has spiked. Workers on highways have been struck by moving vehicles; other workers were shot to death. The number of homicides increased from 15 to 18 in 2007, although the number of workers shot to death decreased from 12 to 10.
It is commonly known that construction work is a dangerous activity, and New York City is the area with the most incidents at the work sites. However, around the country, Construction fatalities have been decreasing by more than 10 percent and fatal falls also decreased by more that 20 percent.
