Detroit, MI—A high school student was severely injured oh his way to school when he was hit by a train and miraculously walked the rest of the way to school. The teen was hit while taking a short cut to school on Thursday, November 5, 2009 around 7:45 a.m., as reported by the Detroit Free Press.

A 16-year-old Roosevelt High School sophomore was walking to school while listening to his iPod when he crossed the tracks behind the school. The teen did not hear the Norfolk Southern freight train approaching or the trains whistle blaring. The teen was struck by the cowcatcher, which is the frame on the front of the train that is designed to move things from the track, and pushed him from the tracks. The teenager continued to walk to school and reported the instance to officials. He was rushed by emergency medical services (EMS) ambulance to Oakwood Southshore Medical Center in Trenton for treatment of his skull fracture.

It was a miracle he survived the accident. Police have not determined if they are going to charge the teen for trespassing on railroad property. If he is charged he could face up to $500 in fines and 93 days in jail. The incident is still under investigation by police officials.
