Truck Accident News: Tar truck capsizes on Route 102

Legal news for New Hampshire Truck Accident attorneys—The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) and police report an asphalt truck capsized in Londonderry.

Londonderry, NH (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A truck transporting tar tipped over on Route 2 and delayed traffic on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, announced the Union Leader.

Continental Paving owned the tractor trailer that was transporting tar and suddenly capsized at 11:30 a.m., when it made a left turn off of the Exit 4 northbound ramp onto Nashua Road.

Police reported skid marks on the off-ramp where the operator of the truck lost control of the vehicle and flipped over, which ruptured the truck’s 8,000 gallon asphalt tank. The haz-mat team was not called to the scene since the rupture was conveniently plugged by cooling asphalt before any major leakage occurred.

The driver apparently survived the crash unscathed, reported the Londonderry police. The tar reportedly did not spill due to the coagulation that occurred when the cool air reached the warm asphalt.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) www.nh.gov/dot/ worked with New Hampshire State police along with Representatives from Continental Paving to pump the remaining tar into a new tanker that arrived on the scene.

Traffic on Nashua Road was delayed for cleanup. There were no other reported vehicles involved in the crash. The driver’s name was not released.
